I was pondering over the doubt raised by Deepthi as to why learn a foreign language and stumbled upon the following link:

its a goo list and following are the reasons which make learning worthwhile:
a) Culture – A languega opens up a new world of art, literature, films, poetry, music and other aspects of a language which you do not understand
b( Travel – If you happen to travel to some other parts of the world Spanish would an asset. It is the most spoken languega on this side of the world. You will connect instantly and make you will understand the culture and people much better. You will atleast try to understand, some just lay idle and let it be.
c) Learning is a process, learning anythings enriches one in so many ways that it leaves you spellbounded.
d) and foremost, friends 
I did not had a reason, you dont need one too.
